Since the program’s inceptions, Lightwire (and parent company London Green Group) has assisted 15 of our team (and their families) to purchase their first home.
To date, the one-off contribution offered by Lightwire in each case has been $5,000, but the world doesn’t stand still, and property prices aren’t getting any lower. To reflect this, the offer has been increased to $7,500 for each eligible purchase.
Our hope is that this offer makes the goal of entering the property market more realistic for our team. Of course, this isn’t completely selfless, we seek to be an employer of choice for “A players”, and through initiatives such as this, we are attracting and retaining the people to fuel our growth.
How Lightwire helps employees in their first home
In addition to a top-quartile salary, we help our team get on with their savings for that first home (or retirement) by matching KiwiSaver contributions to a maximum of 4%. We’ve also partnered with BNZ to be part of the BNZ Financial Wellbeing Program that focuses on empowering people to make healthy money decisions in order to reach your financial goals.
The BNZ program provides:
- Advice on setting a budget and managing debt.
- Guidance around lending needs, getting the most from your KiwiSaver account.
- Financial Health Checks – a 1:1 meeting with an advisor to get an understanding of your financial habits, needs and goals, and suggestions that will support you in achieving these goals.
- In-office group workshops held throughout the year.
Other great initiatives that we run at Lightwire that help our team get ahead include, but are not limited to:
Wellbeing
To foster a team of happy, healthy, and resilient individuals Lightwire invests in our team’s wellbeing. That’s why we’ve built our very own fully equipped gym for all staff to use, each employee is also entitled to one 45-minute personal trainer session with our personal trainer and wellbeing coach, Sarah.
Not only physical wellbeing is promoted, but mental wellbeing guidance and workshops are also regularly organised. Last month a sleep specialist came over and then there’s the $1,000 p/year wellness allowance paid out at the end of each quarter based on the individual’s commitment to their wellbeing over that quarter.

Internet + Phone + Laptop
Whether our employees work from home or come home after a hard day of working, they won’t have to worry about their internet connection as Lightwire provides staff with a business-grade Max/500 fibre connection.
Employees will be able to pick their own phone and choose between a MacBook or Dell laptop, which will be updated regularly.
